London is burning! These riots raise all sorts of questions and the pundits have already solved the puzzle. I am really unsure about the situation there, but it looks remarkably like the G8 protests which start off with a few well meaning folk staging a protest followed up by hooded, masked hoons bent on destruction and looting.
British cops have a policy of going easy on such events. If it were in my neighborhood and the damage to my property, I’d be asking for water canon, tear gas and rubber bullets.
I wonder about insurance problems for buildings and property in these affected areas.

I have been following this on the news Kev, it is horrible. What is happening to the world? People seem to be so filled with hate and anger, it is frightening. No one wins these kind of situations.....:-)Hugs
Kev, I was talking to someone who lived in one of the towns under attack, she also taught there and although she doesn't agree with the looting and burning 'she said she understands why, Since the Thatcher gov, and following governments cutbacks and the closing down of local gyms playgrounds and places for the thousands of unemployed to spend their time , their lives have become bleaker and the opportunity of getting a job , a home a car impossible, they have just cracked. The millions spent on the Royal Wedding probably didn't help. o f cause this doesn't make it O.K to steal and take over the streets. The difference between the very rich and the very poor has been allowed to become great and should have been addressed before this came about, it just needed the spark to set it off, Of cause more than half those thugs just took advantage of the situation and helped themselves to whatever they wanted. What a frightening situation and not what you would expect to see happening in England after watching all those scenes on TV , of happy people lining the roads during the Royal wedding,. Why didn't they bring in the Army to stamp it out before it got so serious? Marg
