Martin's application in

I have just had a phone call from Martin our son in Melbourne. He has lodged his application to get official evidence of his Australian citizenship. He was hoping to talk with an official at Immigration, but was advised that he would have to wait at least two hours to see someone.

If his application is all correctly filled out it will take four days to process and another two or more weeks to have a document issued.

Last night I had a bit of a downer thinking of my late wife, Joan. I had previously read a blog called 'Mum's Not Having Chemo'. It espouses all sorts of alternative treatments which have supposedly cured people with cancer. I got a bit cranky with the postings on the blog and shot off a comment. People who fervently believe in something are immovable from their position, however I felt I had to be the Devil's Advocate and balance all the previous comments which sided with the blog's author. Silly of me I know...however?

KEV, SO IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE AFTER CHRISTMAS BEFORE MARTIN CAN GO BACK TO WORK, I CAN'T SEE WHY IT SHOULD TAKE SO LONG TO CLEAR THIS MESS UP, WITH ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE IF IT WORKED IN CURING CANCER THE DOCTORS WOULD BE USING IT ON EVERYONE, I CAN UNDERSTAND PEOPLE WITH CANCER BEING SO DESPERATE TO CURE IT THAT THEY WILL TRY ANYTHING. I KNOW HAD WENT THROUGH THAT STAGE WHERE HE TRIED HERBS AND NATIVE PLUMS AND POMEGRANATE JUICE BY THE CASE LOAD, NONE OF IT WORKED AND IT COST A LOT OF MONEY,

You are being true to yourself and that is important Kev. Everyone walks their own path and makes their choices based on hope.
Hopefully now that the documents have been delivered things will move along for Martin, really hope so......:-)Hugd

Kev,

I've lost count now of the amount of people who have recently told me about these 'miracle' stories about how people have cured their cancer via herbs, potions, drinking silver etc etc etc....
I have no objection to people trying to maintain their health by taking vitamin supplements etc but they don't cure cancer - unfortunately.

What I really object to is people without cancer who think they know more than my medical team due to something they've read on the internet.

I'd love to believe there is a miracle cure out there that is 'plant based' or whatever, but the real truth is that if this existed the pharmaceutical companies would have the patent by now and they'd be marketing it, at a greatly inflated cost.
Cancer is fickle and responds sometimes to conventional meds, sometimes not. It's the luck of the draw now I think for most of us.

Recently a neighbour told me that I was a lost cause if I wasn't at least prepared to try his 'silver cure'...after researching it further I found out there were numerous cases of people who had been poisoned (and still died of cancer at the end) - he then said that anyone could make up cases of people who'd died via the internet and this was all a conspiracy by the Oncologists and pharmaceutical companies to stop people realising a cure was out there.
Sigh.......enough said I think.

Thinking of you Kev. Your first Christmas without Joan - my family will be holding you in our thoughts over the holiday period.

Much luv, Carole xxXxx
